I'm sad... 455g and way too much crap on AH

I have hit a brick wall. Nothing that was moving before is moving now. [Cut Gems] are even getting posted 30-40g under market. [Frozen Orb] has dropped considerably. I'm going to have to unload some stuff at serious losses. I'm going to have to rethink my strategy. I should be able to get about 1200g once everything is sold at loss. Or should I hang in there and keep reposting? The first 2 weeks went so well. Now it seems like nothing I buy can sell for anywhere near market price. I've also realized I need to write down what i'm paying for sutff in the trade channel. I'm losing grasp of my margins on some of my items this way. Calling for comments on commodity items that are still moving on your servers. Anyone?

470g and 2300+g in items for AH

Something is definately not following trend. My weekend sales were terrible. I have some stuff posted at or below my purchase price just to dump it and its not moving. I'm not going to buy anything new until most of my current lots are sold. I need to cap out my gold and really re-work the strategy to make this turn around again. I really feel like something is holding the market back. Whether it's patch incoming or nicer weather for the summer months and not as many people on, I don't know. I do know that this was easier in the beginning and the only thing i'm doing different is buying way more expensive stuff. Perhaps I need to scale back. IF anything sells by tonight, i'll post a hot/cold list. Otherwise the entire stock may just be a cold list by wednesday :(

Epic Slowdown or Patch Incoming? 480g and 2000+ on AH

After I posted Tuesday I picked up a bunch of what I thought were great deals in the Trade channel dropping down to 90g. I'm back up to 480g but I have some items now that just aren't selling. I made a bad purchase I think in the [Staff of Natural Fury] I bought for 350g and market says 489 but I can't make it move at all. We'll see how it stacks up on Sunday. I'm starting to think the steady/reliable gold income comes from high quantitys, lower markup on hot commodity items and not Rare or Epic. If you can stand reposting something 10 times maybe thats for you, but i'm more into the steady stream of gold flowing in after 1 or 2 postings. Even if it is only 1-10g on each turn as long as its 10-20 items at a pop that can work well. It's friday and i posted a crap load of stuff last night, we'll see how the weekend rush works for me. I'm wondering if people are holding back because of the looming patch.

381g and 2221+g on AH

Wow did I score some great stuff today. I got 10 [Nexus Crystal] for 5g which should turn around for about 27g. I also picked up a [Design: Thundering Skyflare Diamond] for 350g and market price is 750g! I'm the only one on the AH posting one so it got marked up to 859g by whatever magic auctioneer decides. Speaking of Auction... I found a new part of Auctioneer to speed up my posts and reposts. When you are in the appraiser screen posting, look to the top and click on "Full View". It will show everything in your bag on the left and let you just single click to appraise. It is fanatastic!

Now that I can afford to dabble in the epic department I can see how this is going to grow a bit faster. When you can turn 200g on an item after posting 2-3 times, who can beat that. Post in the comments for the single biggest return on investment you've had so far. My biggest turn, unless current auction for that design sells, is 179g.

803g and 1200+g on AH

Hello boys and girls. Its time for this weeks hot and cold! I'm still finding awesome deals on the trade channel (especially [Frozen Orb]). Always keep your eyes open. Also it seems like the later at night, the better deal you get. ProTip incoming: If you see someone WTB something on Trade channel, its possible between the time they looked and posted in trade, another auction has posted for less than what he/she is willing to pay. Double check it once and a while.

Shout out to Markco and Just My Two Copper, without your blog I wouldn't be making some coin or writing this blog!

This weeks HotList:

  • Frozen Orbs (Should have made it on last week as well, still making 20-25g/per)
  • Greater Planar Essence (There has to be a very popular crafting recipe using this)
  • Bloodfin Catfish (picked up 10 of these for 1.5g, they sold in stacks of 3 for 18g99s/stack)

This weeks ColdList:

  • Lionseye (Price on this purple gem has just plummeted, this happen anywhere else?)
  • Scrolls of Anything (I had luck with these early on but the market is not steady)
  • Primal Tiger Leather... (is definately garbage, had 18 since 2nd day trading. Just sold today for my money back even though auctioneer market price is 2x that)

337g and 1850+g on AH! - Comments Fixed :)

Just checking in here. Busy weekend and not a lot of time to scan and play the AH but I got about 50 minutes worth of game time since my last post. I've boughten 2 different epic items now that cost more than 370g for resale in the 550g range. I found one on the Trade channel and the other was actually listed in the AH. I've been keeping my money tied up but its making me nervous having all these items outstanding on the AH. I had 960g in my bag at the highest cash level on Saturday night when i starting buy a lot and reserves went down into the 200g range. I checked in today and gained about 250g back that I spent last night and the rest of the items are on AH.

Seems like the market floods with Ace through 8's after each darkmoon faire. Are they worth buying when low and waiting the few weeks to repost for the next faire ? Leave your opinion in the comments on this one, I need the help.

Any readers coming from Markco's Just My Two Copper, thanks for coming by! I love his site and all of his posts. It is where I started my quest for gold and intend on reading until I stop playing wow, heh, like that will happen. :)

570g and 900g in oustanding auctions

Taking almost 2 days off has slowed me down. Friends and Family count way before any amount of gold in a game.

Being at this for a little over a week now I can tell my confidence in buying has been increased as i've seen some of the same repeat "deals" that obviously aren't and some items that I know dang well that will net me 3 times its buying price. One thing valuable i'm going to take away this week is the concept of market fluctuation. Just because you sold something for XX gold 4 days ago, does not gaurantee that you can still sell it at that price. So without further hesitation, I give you this weeks list.

This weeks HotList:

  • Arctic Fur
  • Quick Autumn's Glow (or other high end pre-cut gems)
  • Titanium Ore

This weeks ColdList:

  • Scrolls of Anything IV or higher (Did well on these in the first week, now aren't moving)
  • Flask of Mighty Restoration (Got these on a steal and have been posting under market and can't make them move at all. I'm currently 20g under market price and still nothing)
  • Glyphs are flooded and dead on my server. Do not waste your time.

489g and 1200+g in outstanding Auctions

I apologize that I did not post my hot and cold items as promised. I had an unexpected death in the family yesterday and have been dealing with that. I will post the hot/cold items tomorrow night as today is St. Patricks and reason to celebrate.

So its been a week - 46g and 1000g on AH

I've been trying to play the AH for 7 days total now. As the post topic has indicated my gold and outstanding auctions, I am beginning to understand things. Basically in order to sustain large incomes each day in trading you have to purchase some large items or volumes. A 40% discount on an item or stack that sells for 100g is going to work out a lot better marginally than any individual item worth less than 20g.

My Auctioneer scan data is getting more reliable after a week of regular scans. I have been using more parts of the add-on each day. There is a lot it can do and I learn things deep enough that reading a wiki really won't help much. I have also found a nice add-on for posting auctions that I would like to endorse. Auctionator (search @ curse.com) It will basically show you all the auctions existing and put a configurable discount on to move your items at current AH value.

Tomorrow night I will post the hot and cold items for the week. For now, here are some recent items i've been moving: [Glyphs] that aren't market flooded and those seem to sell better on the weekends but usually remain sold within 2 postings. [Lions and Midnight Ink]. [Fel Iron Ore]. Finally, Marks and Signet Rings. Some people like to post these at way below market price and I tend to snatch them up under 10s/each. Also I want to say keep an eye out on the Trade channel for deals. I found some nice stuff that should net 50-90g per.

Trade Channel Cloth Deal

I was checking my mailbox when a guy in the trade channel says [Bolt of Netherweave] 10G per stack. I whispered to him that i'd take it. He had 2.6 stacks or 52 Bolts. He asked where I was and when I told him StormWind he said he would COD. I then said 24G for the whole lot? He agreed and he COD'd it to me. I posted it on the AH in stacks of 4 for 6g80s. All but 3 of them sold in the first 5 minutes. Too bad the payments don't get to your mailbox any faster.

Faded Photograph, Junk or Jewel?

Faded Photograph. Worth Buying and reselling? From what I have read you get to keep this as part of the contents of a pack or package in a quest. Legend says its a photograph of Lynk and Princess Zelda in StormWind. Auctioneer shows the moving price on my server at over 70G. Does anyone have experience reselling this item. Please feel free to comment on this below.

202g and 200+g in outstanding items

The [Titanium Toolbox] sold!My net was 68g. I'm thinking I could have priced it even higher but it would have taken some time to move. Also the [LifeStealing Enchant] I picked up in the previous post for 1g40s sold for 27g. After I posted last night I picked up a few low lvl greens, some herbs, armor kits and reposted at their market price and most of those sold as well. With 200g in reserve at this point, buying bigger items should be in the regimen so I can make even more gold per transaction/day (similar to the toolbox scenario).

43g and 370g of items on AH

It's been a total of 3 days of trading in the AH. As the post subject says i have the 43g in my hands and the 370+g in outstanding product plus some stuff i've banked because the market is flooded with the item. I feel like this is really working. Because i've started small and still learning as I go, its taking me a bit more time to work my way up to the epic items and those people who say they are making 1000g a day. As I'm writing this, the 1G 40s bid i placed 15 minutes ago on the [LifeStealing Weapon Enchant] rewarded me as the winner. The other 6 on the AH start at 34g. I won't be stingy, Auctioneer says moving price is 27g. I will list it for that. This really is whole heaps easier than I could have imagined. Still waiting for my [Titanium Toolbox] to sell for 121g. That will seal the deal.

It all started with 20g.

This weekend I learned about playing the AH. I have heard about it before but I never really bothered to check into it as I thought I needed heaps of gold to start. Turns out I was wrong and I shouldn't have waited so long to get started. I created a new toon on my server and created a new mule guild. I transferred 20g from my main to this character. I had already set up the http://www.auctioneeraddon.com/ and been scanning for 3 days. They recommend you get more days of scanning in before you really start but I guess I got lucky.

So I went the first round by buying up 20g worth of items on the AH. The first couple items I bought weren't neccessarily bargains but I just wanted to play it relatively safe as I was just starting. I purchased some nexus crystals, crystalized fire, 2 different glyphs and some odds and ends that I can't recall. I ended up spending all but one gold. I have sold all of my original investment items and net about 80g.

I want to say that glyphs are really hot right now as I purchased a few for less than a gold each and sold one for 8g and another for 5g. With the dual spec stuff coming up glyphs will be re-purchased again and again. So last night on my server, I saw a 32 slot Engineer bag. Auctioneer tells me this bag's moving price is 121g. I bought the bag at 50g and relisted for 121g. I'll let you know how that turns out for me.

As I do this more I expect to learn alot, but playing for as long as I have really gives you an advantage to know what items will sell. Just remember all the stuff you bought in the past, no matter what you paid for it. I'm finding some real bargains out there but you have to be fast with the realtime scanning/search ui to get them. I have 4 auctions outstanding for some sort of stone quest item. I picked up the lot of 16 for 4silver. The return price based on the auctioneer moving price is 10g per 4units. Thats 4silver into 40g. Nothing can really be more satisfying than that.

This weeks HotList:
  1. Glyphs
  2. Crystalized Elements (Fire, Water, Earth etc..)
  3. Frozen Orbs

This weeks ColdList:

  1. Nexus Crystals
  2. Uncut Jems
  3. Spider Silk (Except NetherWeb)
