Epic Slowdown or Patch Incoming? 480g and 2000+ on AH

After I posted Tuesday I picked up a bunch of what I thought were great deals in the Trade channel dropping down to 90g. I'm back up to 480g but I have some items now that just aren't selling. I made a bad purchase I think in the [Staff of Natural Fury] I bought for 350g and market says 489 but I can't make it move at all. We'll see how it stacks up on Sunday. I'm starting to think the steady/reliable gold income comes from high quantitys, lower markup on hot commodity items and not Rare or Epic. If you can stand reposting something 10 times maybe thats for you, but i'm more into the steady stream of gold flowing in after 1 or 2 postings. Even if it is only 1-10g on each turn as long as its 10-20 items at a pop that can work well. It's friday and i posted a crap load of stuff last night, we'll see how the weekend rush works for me. I'm wondering if people are holding back because of the looming patch.

  1. Yeah, older epics are really hard to sell. I try to never buy them unless they are almost free. And then if they don't sell, I can DE them and sell the stuff.

  2. It looks like you are starting to struggle. I started an experiment within a couple days of your start. What are your professions on your main? I started a character on my realm just as you did. I've found that by using my mains jewelcrafting and enchanting I've been able to make 1300g and have about 5000g in rare gems I have yet to try to cut and sell. I started with the same 20g you did.

  3. I think its due partly to one or two bad pickups. Even though I got them for far less than market value I may have to sell them for what I paid for them and take the listing loss. I have confidence that I will get back on track but I think i'll stay more to the quantity and double check the popularity epics and recipe's before I splurge again. I have enchanting on one of my mains but when you buy an epic for 350g its not going to disenchant for profit. I have had luck selling high profile cut jems.

  4. Quantity is definitely where its at for me. I wouldn't suggest disenchanting Epics, but if you have a JC and and Enchanter, prospecting saronite is a huge moneymaker. You simply prospect the ore and any rare gems get cut and sold. The uncommon gems can be combined with crystallized earth to make cheap disenchant fodder. Disenchant and sell the results in the AH. I go through tons of product on a single day. Just yesterday I sold 100+ dusts and 10+ rare cut gems. I netted about 700g.

  5. Heres alittle tip for you Jewelcrafting and mining and Enchanting were to make some good gold. I mine saronite fill up both my mammoth mining bags. Red gems sell the most for me 60g a piece + I dont really mess with meta to much. The best time to post these jems are weekends and tuesday's hence the Most popular raid times. Now with jewelcrafting and mining I make this blue jem called. "blood sun necklace" Takes 1 Eternal earth 1 Bloodstone 2 Sun crystals and 1 chalcedony. Mat for me cost around 10g a piece to make. The DE value is 13g hence my auctioneer tells me 99% Dream shard which sells for 13gish on my realm. 1% is an abyss crystal but ive never seen that drop. I know this is low level stuff to what you guys are talking about with epic's and such but its a good turn table for me. and plus i thought id share my money making idea to this website since im always checking it out now :) If you guys have any questions on were the best place's to farm and such Your more then welcome to message me on aim my screen name is tlithru. My net Income is 2k a day On a good day that is haha.

  6. I bought some Blue items that I have seen for twinks using all the time but they are just not selling. I have re-posted them 3 times now and they havent gone. I'm thinking the same as you in sticking with mats and consumables instead of items as they are just not moving quick enough for my liking. Any suggestions on where to start in the consumable area Rawrzor? I'm not a level 80 so I don't know whats hot and whats not! Thanks

  7. well cant say that there is an epic slowdown, but a slowdown there is(yoda speak ftw). I usually do the mining/jc/enchant as posted above and i sell stuff quite fast, but i noticed that my gems sold at a slower rate this weekend. I still have some left which is weird.

This is why i would like to learn how to use auctioneer. I am pretty sure that my gem shop will go down and under pretty soon.
