I'm sad... 455g and way too much crap on AH

I have hit a brick wall. Nothing that was moving before is moving now. [Cut Gems] are even getting posted 30-40g under market. [Frozen Orb] has dropped considerably. I'm going to have to unload some stuff at serious losses. I'm going to have to rethink my strategy. I should be able to get about 1200g once everything is sold at loss. Or should I hang in there and keep reposting? The first 2 weeks went so well. Now it seems like nothing I buy can sell for anywhere near market price. I've also realized I need to write down what i'm paying for sutff in the trade channel. I'm losing grasp of my margins on some of my items this way. Calling for comments on commodity items that are still moving on your servers. Anyone?

  1. I have the same problem since about a week ago. Most of my stock wont move (even a proto-drake whelp i bought for 99g and Auctioneer shows a listing of 400g. I've been listing it at 200g - not selling.)

Luckily i've been keeping my netherweave bag business going strong - so i've had a steady income of about 150g a day. Nothing amazing and nowhere near what I want it to be, but i just cant seem to crack anything else profitable.

  2. My gem-shop has also hit a brick wall. I have been using so much gold to keep the prices steady is becoming a serious pain in the butt.

Hope it will change really fast. 600g in bag and 4k worth of mats >.<

  4. Think about what people are going to want come the patch. Infinite Dusts are still selling like hotcakes on my server. People are going to need enchants, gems, and glyphs come the new patch. If you trade in these markets, even if times are slow you have the option to hold and sell these items for profit once the patch hits. Other items might include crafted kits for legs, embriodery, etc.

  5. J8Fish - I actually got lucky with a proto-drake whelp that I won on bid for 21g and sold within 20 minutes for 425g. Sadly, that's the bulk of my 570g in bag with about 1000g of items to sell.

  6. I would hold onto and just wait for the markets to shift. Especially if you have a stockpile of frozen orbs, people will be buying up spellthread like crazy pretty soon.

It sucks when you're at a stalemate and nothing is moving, but the patch isn't going to devalue everything to the point of forcing a loss (minus the epic items market, I'm really wary about touching that atm unless its a stupidly good deal). However if you see promise in another market it could be wise to cut out just to have money to reinvest.

  7. Spring Break does wonders to the WOW economy....it does every year. Watch it rebound once all the kids are back in school.
